Membership Grades:

Member: those actively engaged in the direction, supervision, control, operation, maintenance, of a fleet of motor vehicles; such as a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, Director of Operations, Director of Fleet Safety or Fleet Safety Engineer and/or Specialists, Consultant (service only) or those solely responsible for service of vehicles within a factory branch or a bonafide factory distributor not actively participating in sales. Any person who is an owner of vehicles in a fleet operation cannot qualify as a Member.

Associate Member: shall include those who offer and contribute either service, information, materials or parts through sales to the transportation industry and related industries. It shall be noted that the company is the Member, not the individual.

Editorial Member: those Associated with trade periodicals, papers, and magazines.

Honorary Member: Associate Members with at least (15) fifteen years Membership who have completely retired from active participation in business.

Life Member: Members who have completed over (20) twenty years active participation in the Society and retired, may be voted to Life Membership in the Society.

Apprentice Fleet Supervisor Member: shall include those actively engaged in the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles on a class "A" level and not actively participating in sales. To qualify for this grade, a person must have completed at least (1) one step of the A.S.E. (Automotive Service Excellence program) or obtain a written statement from his/her employer stating that he/she is actively employed as a class "A" technician. This person must also have at least (3) three years experience in supervising mechanics. This grade shall come under the same guidelines as a Member grade except for the purpose to run for office, vote or serve on the Executive Board. The purpose of this Membership grade is to aid, train and develop automotive technicians to insure they will meet the qualifications of a fleet supervisor when in the future they have the opportunity to apply for this position.

Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Member: shall include those companies which produces the product, not a distributor or dealer. It shall be noted that the company is the Member, not the individual.

Student Fleet Supervisor: shall include those that are bona fide students enrolled in an accredited undergraduate, graduate or vocational program specializing in the automotive industry. Membership in this grade shall be limited to the year prior to the students expected graduation from an approved program. The student must maintain a passing grade for the required course curriculum to remain a Student Member in good standing. Grade transcripts shall be reviewed at the end of each semester. The number of Student Members shall be limited to (20) twenty percent of Member grade. This grade shall come under the same guidelines as a Member grade except for the purpose to run for office, vote or affect the Member/Associate Member ratio. Student Membership in the Society limited to one year after graduation or upon termination of studies without graduation. The Student Fleet Supervisor may request a transfer to any other grade of Membership he/she is qualified for upon graduation or termination of studies.
