May 2007

Well, the April meeting is in the books I am looking forward to the upcoming events. As I am writing the 2007 Society Expo is around the corner. I hope everyone took the time to go to the show.

Next on the calendar is the Kiddy picnic. This is an event that everyone needs to put on the calendar if you have not done so yet. The date is set for June 3 and I know Mike Cordiello is putting all his efforts to make it one to remember. I would like to give my personal thanks to all those individuals who were kind enough to donate for the toys. This year it was a record amount donated and I am sure the kids will be thrilled.

I would like to remind everyone that the annual Golf Outing follows the Kiddy Picnic and I am hoping everyone can make the time for this event.

As we approach the end of the 2006/2007-year, I will be making plans for the New Year. I know over the past year I have repeatedly reached out for help for the many committees and will do so again. The 2007/2008-year is only a few months away so anyone interested in lending a hand, give me a call. THE SOCIETY NEEDS YOU.

I want to thank everyone who attended and participated in this year’s EXPO. I also must thank the EXPO committee for all the hard work that they did in making this year’s EXPO a success. Many thanks go out to Members Tim Harte and Dennis Roskop for manning the sign in table. Also, with out the dedication and hard work that Members Carl Orza and Richie Chan did in the past few months, this EXPO never would have made it to the Inn at New Hyde Park.

I hope that all of you who were able to attend the EXPO were happy with what we were able to present. We had plenty of food on hand and our new layout seemed to please everyone.

Our last meeting before the summer break will be at the INN at New Hyde Park. We will meet in September for the first meeting of our new year.

The following Bylaw change proposals have been submitted and will be voted upon at the May meeting. Proxy ballots will be mailed to all voting Members before the end of April. All proxy ballots must be returned by the May meeting.

Bylaw Change Proposal 1
Rewrite Article III, section 2C to read:
2C. Honorary: Associate Members whose representative has at least (15) fifteen years Membership and has completely retired from active participation in business may be voted to Honorary Membership in the Society.

Bylaw Change Proposal 2
Bylaw IV Duties of Standing Committees
Add the following to the 2nd paragraph after the first sentence:

Not sure if you will qualify? You can send a message to either me or Member Richie Chan and we will check the records for you.

As you already know, the Kiddy Picnic is set for Sunday, June 3, 2007 in the Cherry section of Parking Lot 5 of Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, NY. If you haven’t sent in your reservation forms, please do so. We need to know the ages of the children that will attend so we can purchase the appropriate toys for them. Please return the form to me by fax or email.

What can I say? I asked for donations and our membership stepped up and made a record donation surpassing last year’s collection record! I got to give a great big thank you to all the generous donors that contributed to make our Kiddy Picnic the best there is.
