William Ross
William Ross was born and raised on Staten Island, New York. Bill enjoys golf when he is not working, and recently moved to the North Shore Towers in Floral Park, New York. Bill said it's 20 minutes from midtown and I have a Golf Course in my back yard.
After serving 3 years in the United States Army, Bill began his career in 1969 working for a Long Island home heating oil company as an office manager. In 1976 he went to work for George Rice, first as General Manager, then in marketing and finally Bill moved into outside sales. Here he was clearly in his element and in 1981, Bill was snapped up by Medallion Oil Company, RAD Oil Company's chemicals and lubricants affiliate. He became an Energy Specialist with RAD Energy and currently is in Fuel Management Sales with Sprague Energy.
According to those at Sprague Energy who have worked with Bill over the years, his success as a sales rep is directly attributable to two important factors; industry and product knowledge, and strong relationships with his customers. Bill makes a point of getting to know a customer, finding out what his needs are, even learning about the customer's business so he can better anticipate and understand that customer's needs. He tries to be a problem solver, keeping up to date with new products and technology and developments in the industry. Bill's supervisors use words such as "dedication " and "integrity" in describing him and they feel that he has rightfully earned the respect of his customers and colleagues.
Bill joined the Society in 1989 as an Associate Member and has brought his "dedication " and "integrity" to us. He is currently serving on the Executive Board as Treasurer, an office he has held since 1996. He has also served as the Membership Committee Chairman, a Member of the Special Activities Committee co-Chairing the Annual Golf Outing, served on the EXPO Committee and is ready to assist wherever he may be needed. He was our Member of the Month in May of 1996. His creativity and experience in problem solving have proven to be an invaluable asset to the Society.
