Richard Fevang
Our "Member of the Year" Richard Fevang was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1946. He was raised in Brooklyn and attended Ralph R. McKee Technical & Vocational High School in Staten Island, New York. Richie currently lives in the Throgs Neck section of the Bronx. He has two sons Richie and Scott, and became a grandfather on July 3rd, 1998.
Richie enjoys boating and fishing in his spare time. He also dabbles in model building and home renovations.
With thirty-six years of experience in truck fleet management, Richie has a proven track record of experience in operations, management, purchasing, personnel, training and sales. Richie started as a mechanic for Hertz Corp. in 1964 and Lease Plan International in 1967. Moving onto Transervice Leasing in 1969 as a Shop Foreman he then became the Operations Manager in 1972. In 1982, Richie made another move to Hertz Penske Truck Leasing as a District Service Manager responsible for eight hundred and fifty vehicles operating out of four locations. As a District Manager for Hertz Penske in 1985, he controlled a fleet of three hundred and twenty five vehicles operating from three locations for a major New York City newspaper. In 1989, Richie became the Director of Maintenance and Purchasing for Baldwin Transportation Corp. and controlled the maintenance of two hundred and thirty vehicles in three states. In 1990, as the Operations Manager for Tire People, Inc., he was responsible for purchasing equipment, supplies, vehicles, vehicle maintenance, emergency road service for all locations, sales and customer relations. Richie also managed the service department of a multi-line truck dealership, Bruno White/GMC Truck Sales as Service Manager in 1992. He supervised all warranty claims on various foreign and domestic manufactured vehicles, scheduled work, personnel and handled customer relations.
Currently, Richie is the Fleet Manager for the City of New Rochelle. He is responsible for the maintenance of three hundred and forty various types of equipment ranging from garbage collection to police vehicles, snowplows, sanders and construction equipment.
Richie has been an active member of the Society since 1979, and currently serves as our President. He served as the First Vice President from September 1998 to June 2000 and Chairman of the Health, Welfare and Employment Committee from September 1994 to May 1998. He is a member of the New York Motor Truck Association, National Association of Fleet Administrators and the Westchester County Public Works Administrators.
