Benjamin Uvino and Joe Valenti

Benjamin Vincent Uvino was born in Brooklyn, New York, on August 1, 1947. He attended elementary school and then graduated from Brooklyn Automotive in 1964. Ben served in the United States Army he spent three years overseas as a Pay Master.

In 1969 he got his first job at Branch Motor Express as a payroll specialist, then in 1971 his position was threatened by layoffs and he was offered the position as Assistant Supervisor in the vehicular department where his career began.

Ben was married in 1971 to his lovely wife Theresa, very soon after he started a family, their first child was born in 1972, their daughter Nicole. So now it was time to move to bigger and better things, so he changed jobs and started working for Luby Leasing, a H/D Truck Leasing Outfit operating out of New York and Memphis as a director of Fleet planning and maintenance. This position is where he received experience and exposure to warranties which was a strong and important factor in leasing in the early 70's. Ben also managed a fleet consisting of over two thousand pieces of equipment from coast to coast.

In 1973 his second child was born, a son named Benjamin. Now that his family was growing it was time for another move. So he went with Hermann Freight Forwarding as area manager located in South Jersey, covering the entire Northeast. During the next five years with this company he did quite a lot of traveling all over the Northeastern coast.

In 1977, Ben bought his first home, leaving Brooklyn he and his family moved to Long Island. Along with the move came his third child another son, Christopher.

Ben left Hermann and started with Continental Baking as Fleet Superintendent, in charge of over five hundred pieces of equipment, making them the largest single owned baking fleet in the metropolitan area. After seven years with that firm Ben changed careers again to work with his present firm, the Taystee Baking Company as Regional Fleet Superintendent and Facilities Manager.

Ben has been an active member with The Society of Fleet Supervisors since 1984, presently serving his third term as treasurer. Ben has high hopes in seeing the Society grow physically and financially.

Joseph Valenti was born on February 21, 1928. He was raised in Manhattan, New York. He is married to his wife Syliva and has three beautiful daughters, Kathy, Janice and Karen, also not to forget his four beautiful grandchildren.

He completed all his schooling and graduated in 1945. Soon after graduating he got his first job as a mechanic's helper for Sheffield Farms. He was on the job for about a year when he was called to serve his country in the United States Army. He returned to Sheffield Farms in 1948 as a full-fledged mechanic. Joe remained at Sheffield Farms as a mechanic until 1975, when he retired.

After retirement he in 1975, he decided he just was not ready to sit back and enjoy yet. So he went back to work as Fleet Supervisors for Belaccico Italian Bread, he remained there for about three years when in 1978 he decided to move to Continental Baking as Fleet Supervisor. Joe was In charge of over five hundred pieces of equipment, purchasing and distribution.

At the same time he joined the Society of Fleet Supervisors. Joe has been very active with the Scholarship Committee. In 1984, Joe served a term as Vice-President. Also at this time Joe is involved with the Board of Directors Alumni Committee for the Boys Club of New York.

Honestly you could say that Joe has put in his time and has happily retired once again. As of April 1, 1990, Joe is really enjoying time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
