Harold Klebanoff

Harold Klebanoff is a native New Yorker. His early years were spent in the Bronx, where he completed high school with a Regents diploma. His formal training in diesel technology was with the United States Coast Guard, where he served as a diesel technician on many ships ranging in size from 40 to 96 feet.

Following his tour of active duty during World War II, Harold continued his education majoring in diesel engine and machine design at Pratt Institute and at the same time he took a job with The Cummins Engine Company. This affiliation would continue for the next twenty-three years. Harold's great talent and ability were recognized as he moved through the ranks at Cummins. Over the years he wore many hats serving as a parts helper, a regional field service engineer, and as a sales manager. Harold held the position of director of service and sales for the White Motor Company for a short duration before making a very important decision in his career.

In 1971 Harold Klebanoff and Philip LaPorta purchased McGlynn Diesel Service and it became a division of La Ban Equipment Both Harold and Philip are still active in the every clay operation of La Ban.

Harold has been involved in the transportation industry for over four decades and is an active member of many organizations. He serves on the Advisory Committee for Mechanical Power Technology at S.U.N.Y., Farmingdale, The N.Y.S. Board of Education Boces Division, the New Jersey Motor Truck Association and is the president of the Association of Diesel Specialists.

Harold and his lovely wife Rhoda live in Valley Stream and are the proud parents of two children. They have two grandchildren. His son is actively involved in the operation of La Ban Equipment. Harold enjoys skiing and woodworking.

Harold is a valued member of the Society of Fleet Supervisors. He has held several positions in our organization, has served on many committees, and was a very effective President. Harold is now serving as an Executive Board Advisor, and will continue to work with the Society. He looks forward, with enthusiasm, to the active support of all our members, which will ensure the continued growth of our organization.
