Steve Kleiner

Our Member of the Month is Associate Member Steve Kleiner, Commercial Service Advisor for Hempstead Ford Lincoln Mercury in Hempstead, NY. He is responsible for a mixed vehicle Service Department that employs 16 Technicians. He oversees warranty service and maintenance for large bus fleets and truck accounts. Steve acts as a dispatcher to his technicians and oversees the completion of repairs. Steve has been in the Automotive Industry for the past 43 years and most of that time he has spent in the employ of new car dealerships. Steve started as a line technician specializing in the repair of both gas and diesel vehicles. Through the years, Steve migrated into management and became the Assistant Manager of Manhasset Ford. His hard work, knowledge and vast managerial skills were recognized and Steve was promoted to Manager of the Service Department of Manhasset Ford. Steve would later become the Service Department Manager of Sunrise Ford, Middle Island Dodge, Dobler Chevrolet and Syosset Ford. After leaving Dobler Chevrolet in 1993, Steve opened his own business and was the owner/operator of Steve’s Hometown Service in Northport from 1993-2004.

Steve was born in the Bronx and later moved to Bethpage, NY. He graduated from Plainedge High School, No. Massapequa, NY in 1971 and went on to attend both Nassau Community College and Farmingdale State College.

Steve married his wife, Danica, in 1971 and they have just celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary. They reside in East Northport, NY and are the proud parents of two sons and a daughter; Jason, Brian and Jennifer. Steve and Danica are the equally proud grandparents of their 4 grandchildren.

In his off time, Steve enjoys motorcycle riding. He also gives back to the community by participating in fundraising and event planning for DAYTOP. Steve has also been a past PAL coach. Additionally, Steve had been the Treasurer of the Fraternal Order of ODD Fellows and a member of the President’s Advisory Council for Chevrolet. 

Steve has been an active Member of the Society of Fleet Supervisors since 2010.
