Our Member of the Month for January is John Guarriello of We Transport. He is the shop Manager of a fleet of 150 schools buses at the Smithtown facility and oversees seven mechanics performing repairs, maintenance, and DOT inspections.

John was born in 1940 in Queens, NY and was raised in Corona and Babylon. He attended Babylon High School and graduated in 1958. He attended SUNY Farmingdale where he took business courses.

Married to his wife, Lillian, since 1960, they have three children, John, Kim, and Gary. John also has five grandchildren Ashley, Kaylee, Michael, Gary and Ryan. John and Lillian reside in Bayshore, NY.

John is an avid reader. Home remodeling is another passion for John and Lillian in their spare time. He has remodeled seven homes and is on the look out for home number eight.

John started in the industry a welder and mechanic with the Operating Engineers and worked there for ten years. He had apprentice training as a crane operator and was a certified welder. He spent the next 32 years working at Ford Dealerships at Smithtown Ford, Sayville Ford, McDaniel's Ford and Wantagh Ford as a mechanic and commercial truck manager. He was a Ford Master Certified Commercial Truck Manger and Certified Ford Business Preferred Network Commercial Manger. John was fortunate enough to be able to work with his sons at these dealerships. His son, John, is a diesel mechanic and has worked with him at all four dealerships and his son Gary is a service writer and worked with him at Wantagh Ford, Sayville Ford and Smithtown Ford.

John has been a Member of the Society since November 2007 and has stepped up to the plate in August 2008 to chair the Welfare and Employment Committee.
