Our Member of the Month is Associate Member Islandwide Auto/Truck Collision, Ltd.'s President, Glenn Schneider. Islandwide is located in Huntington Station, NY and was opened in 1989 with a dream of having a one stop, full service auto and truck collision and painting facility. Islandwide offers quality service and provides minimum down time by utilizing a staff of 13 highly qualified employees who are the cream of the crop and having a shop that is equipped with the proper quality equipment.
Glenn was born in 1962 in Jamaica, NY and was raised in Huntington, NY. He graduated in 1980 from Walt Whitman/Wilson Tech BOCES with two years of auto body training. He also obtained an Associates Degree in Computer Science in 1984 from Nassau Community College.
Glenn married his wife, Eileen, on December 11, 1992 on the day of the "Perfect Storm" and he states what a day it was! They have two sons, David, 16 and William, 14. The Schneiders reside in Northport, NY.
During his off hours, Glenn runs two race cars where both his sons are the drivers. Glenn states that his racing team is a 3rd generation racing family that started in 1940 at Freeport Raceway. His sons began driving go carts at the ages of five and eight years old and won L.I. Championships, North East Championships and National Championships. In 2007, they moved up to ¾ scale, 125 hp NASCAR Cup style cars. Both have finished in the top five in overall points and battled each other for Rookie of the Year. David achieved that honored title. They have raced at tracks from Maine to Florida to Indiana and in between. This coming season, David will race a 600 hp modified stock car and William will race a 500 hp late model stock car at tracks in Riverhead, the Pocono's and throughout New England. Glenn also enjoys golf, diving and an occasional vacation.
Glenn supports his church as a volunteer in fund raising projects and the church's Super Saturday Kids Krusades in which they purchase, assemble and distribute 150 bicycles each year. He is also involved with the L.I. Teen Challenge as a volunteer in Security and provides free body and paint work for its fleet of 20-25 vehicles. He has volunteered for security for overseas mission trips. Glenn is also a member of the Rotary Club.
A recent member of the Society since 2008, Glenn has been familiar with the Society for a long time. His brother, Don, was a former Associate Member from 2000 - 2007 and Glenn has attended Society meetings and Golf Outings with him. He has enjoyed his experience with the Society and is looking forward to his future involvement with the organization and its members.
