Michael A. Iannizzi was born and raised in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn in 1932. He attended Brooklyn High School of Automotive Trades. Upon graduation, he worked for Mack Trucks as a mechanic until 1952 when he entered the U.S. Army and served in the 1st Infantry Division with the Occupied Forces in Germany.

In 1954, he was discharged from the Army and worked for a Rio Truck dealer in the Bronx until 1956 when he joined fink Baking Corporation as a mechanic. He spent 41 years at Fink becoming Supervisor of the Fleet in 1968 and then Director of Maintenance in 1975. Mike retired from Fink Baking in January 1998.

In 1968 with the sponsorship of Hank Hasiwar, Mike joined the Society of Fleet Supervisors. Within a year, Mike was put to work on the Executive Board. Since then, he has served as President, Treasurer, Secretary and Chairman of almost every standing committee over the last 39 years. Mike was honored in 1984 as the Fleet Supervisor's "Man of the Year". Together with John Dozis, Mike was instrumental in establishing the first Society Golf Outing and the Scholarship Program. As the Special Activities Chairman for 30 years, Mike was well known for coordinating the fun-filled June Family Outings to Gurneys, the Poconos and Friar Tuck as well as the Kiddy Picnic and yearly Christmas parties (now known as the Scholarships Awards Dinner). Upon his retirement from Fink Baking, Mike was elected to Life Membership in the Society.

In addition to his many contributions to our Society, Michael has returned to the work world to assist his life long friend, Bill McVeigh, at Atlantic Express Transportation Group. At Atlantic, Michael reviews all major component part purchases, maintains inventory control standards and manages the warranty process for a fleet of vehicles in excess of over 5000 power units. Certainly a huge undertaking for any individual but it's just another day for Mike.

Mike and his wife Anne Marie reside in Port Washington. The father of three daughters and 10 grandchildren, Mike keeps busy with family gatherings, traveling overseas and enjoying the warmer climates of Jamaica and the Caribbean.

Mike could have retired on his laurels, but he still pitches in and helps wherever he is needed. He is a true gentleman, a great friend and a loyal supporter of our wonderful organization. Mike is currently the Chairman of the Retirees Committee. Michael truly loves this Society.
