October 2007

Our Member of the Month is Clem Drummond who was born and raised in Ozone Park, Queens, NY. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and joined the Army Reserve and is a veteran. Clem served in the 99th Signal Group and reached the rank of sergeant, overseeing the Motor Pool operation. He decided to continue his automotive education by attending SUNY Farmingdale's Automotive Technology Program. He earned his Bachelors in Organizational Management from NYACK College and an MBA from Dowling College.

Clem is married to the girl of his dreams, Ginny for 29 years. They are blessed with two lovely children Amanda 24, and Addison (AJ) 18. Amanda has just graduated college in May with a Bachelors degree and AJ has just started Nassau Community College studying Business Administration. Clem gives most of the credit for raising their children to his wife Ginny for her devotion and patience in seeing that their children succeed.

Clem retired from KeySpan in 2004 and decided to follow his passion of automotive and education. Starting at Suffolk Community College's Automotive Technology Program as the program coordinator, he managed the Toyota T-ten Program, General Motors ASEP Program and created the Honda PAC Program before leaving in 2006.

Always looking for a challenge, Clem is now the Director of Automotive Technology and Higher Education Officer for Bronx Community College. He enjoys everyday at the college and the students and faculty are great. Students are embracing the positive changes and in 2008 the students will have the opportunity to build a Cobra replica as part of their learning experience. This Cobra will be slightly different and will have a high tech fuel system and driveline.

Clem was entered into the Automotive Hall of Fame at Northwood Institute in Midland, Michigan for his contributions in the Automotive Service Industry. Additionally, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004 from the Natural Vehicle Gas Coalition for contributions in the development of natural gas vehicles.

In his spare time, Clem enjoys boating, trying to catch the big fish, and taking on challenges of home remodeling. Someday, he hopes to be able to have a repeatable golf scores in the 80s.
