Tom Munno was born and raised in Red Hook, Brooklyn in 1957 and later moved to Queens in 1982. He graduated from John Jay High School in 1975 and then attended Delaney Automotive Technical School in Brooklyn. Tom attended Nassau Community College and earned a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1993. Tom is also ASE Certified in Electrical/Electronic Systems.

As a young man, Tom started his career in the automotive industry by spending his nights with his cousin, Frank O'Neill, working on a fleet of taxis at Butler Fleet Maintenance in Brooklyn. Tom joined Double Check Electric in the early 1970's and became the owner in the early 1990's. He started on the ground floor stripping alternators and starters in a shop of four that has grown to a staff of 17 at the Long Island City facility. Double Check Electric specializes in alternators, starters, diesel forklifts, carburetors, batteries and offers quality rebuilding. It is also a complete electrical diagnostic shop that works on foreign and domestic automobiles, trucks and buses.

Tom is married to his wife Karen since 1983 and has two children, Jackie, 13 and Chris, 11 ½. The Munnos reside in Williston Park, NY. When not working Tom loves to coach his children in baseball, go skiing and playing golf.

Tom has been an Associate Member of the Society since 2002 and has been a very generous contributor to many of the Society's events and functions. He has served on the Membership Committee and Special Activities Committees. Lucky Tom was the winner of the 10,000 Bricks Raffle at the 2005 Scholarship Awards Dinner.
