Our Member of the Month was born in New York City and lived in Queens his whole life. Michael Rogers graduated from Mater Christi high school in Astoria in 1977. He attended the State University of New York at Farmingdale and Graduated in 1980 with an Associates Degree in Automotive Engineering Technology. While working full time Mike earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Baruch College in NYC with a major in Marketing Management.

Mike was employed by The Union Free School District in Levittown , NY as a school bus technician while attending Farmingdale University . After graduating from in 1980 he pursued a career with the International Harvester Company located in Long Island City , NY . He worked as a truck technician for about a year and was then transferred to the parts group. The factory branch became a privately owned dealership named Metropolitan International Trucks. Mike worked for Metropolitan as a parts man for 5 years. He left Metropolitan International in 1984 and became the Parts Manager for Truck King International located in Brooklyn , NY . Working at Truck King allowed him the opportunity to manage all phases of parts operations. He successfully increased sales and profits every year. Mike left Truck King in 1989 and began working for Navistar International (formerly International Harvester Company, currently International Truck and Engine Corp.) as the Parts Sales Manager for the NYC metropolitan area. In this position he focused on interfacing with the local dealers and increased sales to their key accounts. Mike has successfully cultivated excellent business relationships with his assigned dealers and was successful in increasing sales at the wholesale and retail level.

In 2000 Mike was promoted to the National Accounts Group as a National Accounts Manager Parts Sales. He currently calls on key National Accounts such as Atlantic Express, Brinks, Transervice Lease, Hub Truck Rental, Edart Truck Leasing and AA Truck Rental.

Mike currently lives in Forest Hills , NY with his wife Margaret (married 25 years this past August) and his son, Michael, age 10 and my daughter, Andrea, age 16.

Mike serves on the Board of Directors of Forest Hills Gardens Corporation and also serves on the Architecture Committee. He is an active Cub Scout troop leader in Forest Hills and he actively coaches Forest Hills Youth Athletic Association baseball and basketball.

Some hobbies and interests of Mike's are home repair, where he has learned plumbing, electrical and carpentry. He loves reading and music including jazz. He likes to golf and fish when time allows. And did we say he loves coaching youth sports activities?

Since joining us in 2003 as an OEM Member, Mike is proud to support and be an active Member the Society of Fleet Supervisors. Mike states that the support this organization shows for the Automotive Technology students at Farmingdale University is widely recognized and appreciated throughout the industry. Being a graduate of that program 25 years ago it's heartwarming to be able to participate in supporting such a beneficial institution.
