When it comes to the task of allowing EMS Specialists to save the lives of others there is no one better than our Supervisor of the Month, Doug Calder. Doug is the Director of Fleet Operations for Metro Care Ambulance, one of the largest privately held ambulance companies in the northeast.

Doug began his career as a mechanic while going to high school and throughout college where upon graduation he became Assistant Service Manager for Island Ford. He then became Service Manager for two of the major Metropolitan Ford Dealerships, which included Popular Ford and Premier Ford.

In need of taking on greater challenges Doug became the Director of Fleet Maintenance for MetroCare where his responsibilities include the maintenance for over 425 plus Ford E350 ambulances and an assortment of passenger vehicles to include Expeditions, Escapes and Jeeps. Doug directly supervises 19 mechanics, 4 body men and 3 service managers covering 3 different strategic operation locations in Brooklyn, Amityville and Mount Vernon New York. Doug's daily responsibilities include the repair and maintenance of all company vehicles, comprehensive DOT supervision, parts inventory control as well as supervising and managing a full service body shop which includes collision repair, painting and lettering of all vehicles.
