Stephen Tardif was born in Waltham, Mass. in 1955 and was raised in Montclair, N.J. He graduated from Montclair High School in 1973. Steve served in the U.S. Army from 1973 to 1976 as a wheel vehicle mechanic and served overseas in Germany.

After his military service, Steve worked as a mechanic until 1980 at which time he became an owner/operator of a gasoline and automotive repair station in Clifton, NJ. He sold the business in 1983 and went to work as a Class "A" mechanic for Potamkin Cadillac in Manhattan, NY. Steve moved on to Pechter Fields Baking Company of Brooklyn, NY and was the Fleet Supervisor there from 1985 to 1995. Upon Pechter Fields going Chapter 7, Steve moved to upstate New York and drove a tractor/trailer for two years.

In 1998, Airborne Express, Inc. out of Newburgh, NY hired Steve as their Regional Fleet Supervisor in charge of over 1,200 parcel delivery vehicles. He manages all areas of fleet maintenance for Airborne Express, which includes sixteen locations in the New York Metropolitan area and Connecticut. Airborne Express contracts out its maintenance for their delivery fleet, recovery fleet and dock equipment. He oversees non-contract repairs and abuse repairs and does a complete fleet inspection at each location once each quarter. All vehicles are inspected for proper maintenance along with a review of all required record keeping.

Steve is married to his wife Rose since 1980 and resides in Westbrookville, NY. Golf is a game that's easy to love and hate, he's your classic hacker and he loves it. Steve has also been around boats all his life and up to a few years ago, he had a 31' cabin cruiser docked out of Huntington, NY. Currently, he enjoys canoeing and running a 12 ft. inflatable powered by a 9.9 hp motor. Steve and Rose also enjoy going to Broadway shows. They try to get to the theater at least 3-4 times a year. They also have been involved with animal welfare for several years and are members of The Animal Rights Alliance, Inc. Their primary goal is to end the hundreds of thousands of unnecessary killings of innocent animals at shelters every year by providing spay and neuter assistance to pet owners. Steve also serves as a member of the Board of Assessment and Review in the Town of Mamakating, NY.

He has been an active Member of the Society since 1985.
