November 2001

Our Member of the Month for November is Member Dennis J. Roskop of City & Suburban Delivery. Dennis is currently the Fleet Manager and oversees the daily maintenance and repair of a newspaper delivery fleet of 120 vehicles at their Farmingdale and New Rochelle locations. He has a total of six mechanics at both locations. He started in the industry as a mechanic's helper at Tip Top Bread. While working as a mechanic, he attended several GM and International Trucks training schools to sharpen his skills. Dennis also worked for Meadowbrook Lumber as the Fleet Manager. He later moved on to Nassau Fire Apparatus as a roadman in the tri-state area.

Dennis was born in Queens, NY in 1952 and was raised in Amityville and Bellmore out on Long Island. He graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Bellmore in 1970. He has been married to his wife Cynthia since 1991 and they reside in Bellmore. He calls his dog Muggsy, an American Pit Bull, his 4-legged son.

Dennis has been a volunteer fireman for the past 31 years. He was also a past Fire Chief and a past County Fire Commissioner. He is also a qualified Fire Apparatus driving instructor.

During his off hours while he is not in the shop or firehouse, Dennis enjoys going fishing.

A Member of the Society since 1997, Dennis has worked on the Arrangements Committee and shared some of the duties at the sign in desk at monthly meetings.
