Michael Stolar, representative for Associate Member PPG Industries is our current Member of the Month. He is the Commercial Territory Manager for sales of refinishing products to fleets in the metropolitan New York and New Jersey area. He has been educating fleets in selecting the right products for their needs and in color matching. Mike has been in the automotive refinishing business for the past 25 years of which 16 years are in the paint business. In 1975, he started working for Carborundum, a sandpaper manufacturer and moved on during 1984 to Western Automotive Finishes. He joined PPG in 1995.
Mike was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and attended Lincoln High School. He graduated from Brooklyn College where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Business. He served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967 and attained the rank of E-4. He was a clerk in the Transportation Company and served overseas in the Dominican Republic.
Mike currently resides in Great Neck, NY with his wife Sheryl and has 2 children, Cara, 24 and Robin, 18. He enjoys viewing old movies in his spare time. In 1988, he worked as a researcher on a project in New York for the Public Broadcasting Service on a program involving John Wayne. Mike is also been involved in a Community Service Project aiding the Homeless.
Since joining the Society in 1999, Mike is a generous contributor to the Annual Golf Outing and the May EXPO.
