Michael Bruce was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1946. He graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School after which he was drafted into the U.S. Army in November of 1966. Mike served two overseas tours of duty in Korea and Vietnam. He was a heavy weapons and long-range reconnaissance specialist. He was Honorably Discharged and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant E6.


After military service, Mike enrolled at Queens College part time where he received an Associates Degree in Communications. He began work at the same time for Green Bus Lines as a diesel mechanic. Mike worked his way up to 1st Class Diesel Mechanic and later to Lead Mechanic. He left Green Bus lines after eighteen years to pursue a car stereo business that he operated for five years.


In 1995, Mike joined Atlantic Express as a Maintenance Supervisor. He has overseen the Brooklyn, Ridgewood and Jamaica shops. He is presently at the Brooklyn shop where he oversees 24 mechanics and 400 school buses.


Mike has been happily married to his wife Ann for 30 years. They have three children Tracy, Michael, Christine and one grandchild Kurt.


During his off hours, Mike is an avid fisherman spending his time in the saltwater surf. He is also a die-hard Mets fan and has coached Little League baseball.


Mike has been an Active Member of the Society since 1998 and has served on the Arrangements Committee soliciting vendors and sponsors for the May Expo.
